Paul Daley Talks His Plans For 2016

Paul “Semtex” Daley (37-13-2) is one of the fighters in the sport of Mixed Martial Arts that has the ability to move the needle, fans around the world tune in regardless of who his opponent may be to see a devastating knockout. A chance for a huge statement to be made comes in the form of his tough opponent Andy Uhrich (11-5) – and with their matchup now being the headline of Bellator’s first card of 2016, it could potentially set the stage for what is to come.

Tune in January 29th at 9/8c, live on Spike, to see if “Semtex” can carry over his impressive streak of performances in 2015 – over into the new year. The British Welterweight contender took some time out recently to answer a few questions before his big fight.

1. If you could only play three albums for the rest of your life, what would they be?

Jesus. To be honest I don’t really listen to albums and such. I do download the hot/top track on iTunes.

2. What is one thing fans would never guess about you?

That’s a difficult one because I’m pretty much an open book. IDK.

I’m a pretty good cook, one of my ambitions, or was, to be a chef so that’s probably something that’s not really out there.

3. Where in the world did you have your best meal and what was it?

Probably lobster because I hadn’t had it that often, but I remember it was the year 2014, a really good friend of mine owns a few restaurants in Mayfair, London – and I was invited there. I ate some lobster there surrounded by some Russian folk, me and my girlfriend eating lobster. Which is a pretty surreal thing to be in that position, that was pretty cool. That was probably the best meal and most expensive meal I ever ate.

4. “Netflix and Chill” or Traditional Dinner and a Movie?

Ehhhh, “Netflix and Chill”. My schedule is busy I ain’t got the time to surround meals and going to the cinema much.

5. Do you believe in the new “Walking Weight” – no cutting weight – movement in MMA?

I think it’s a good thing, I’m not one hundred percent behind it. I haven’t looked too much into it, I don’t know what the time frames are, what percent of your fight weight you have to be to fight. But it works well in boxing, so I’m for it, anything that improves fighter safety I’m for it.

As far as I’m concerned, hopefully it doesn’t go across the board for all promotions, that’s when I’d have to retire from fighting.

6. If you could be in any movie ever made, which one would you choose?

That’s a tough one. Probably American Gangster, with Denzel Washington. That would be a good one.

7. Fill in the blank: If you are in England you have to __________.

Go to London, I guess.

8. How do you feel about headlining the first Bellator card of 2016?

I was pretty happy just to headline the card. I didn’t really realize it was the first Bellator card of 2016, that’s pretty cool. I guess I can set the benchmark for how you are supposed to fight in a main event, how you are supposed to entertain and finish your opponent. I feel privileged to be in such a position.

9. What can fans expect when you square off against Andy Uhrich?

Action. Expect to be kept awake, to feel the energy from the fight. When I’m fighting all the time I’m not going to win on points, I’m coming to finish the fight. You can expect to be entertained, most definitely.

10. What are your overall goals for 2016 and where can fans find you?

Win all of my fights, make as much money as possible, and end the year as a champion. That would be a perfect year for me.

You can find me on Facebook, just have a general search. There’s only two profiles, one is ran by a fan and one is my personal page. With the personal page you can get a general feel for me.
