UFC 197 In Rio de Janeiro Cancelled Due To Economic Downfall

Reports are stating that the proposed UFC 197 event set to take place on March 5th in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, has been cancelled. Anderson Silva is claiming that the cancellation is due to growing economic decline in the South American country.

Silva made comments on the matter during a media conference call, stating that UFC will move the proposed event because of the fragile economic status in Brazil. Heres what he had to say:

“(The plan) was to have me fighting in Brazil against I don’t know who. But, with this situation going on in Brazil, economically and everything, the UFC decided to abort this event for now.”
