Luke Rockhold Interested In Chris Weidman Fight In New York

Luke Rockhold is taking on Lyoto Machida at UFC on FOX 15, and if the former Strikeforce champ can score a win, it might just put him next in line for a crack at the middleweight belt and its current holder: Chris Weidman. Which is certainly a shot Rockhold wants a chance to take, and it would be made all the better if it took place at Madison Square Garden.

During the UFC on FOX 15 open workouts today, Rockhold had this to say:

“I got nothing against New York and I like Chris [Weidman] a lot, just like a big stage, and of course fighting for the title is my goal, and fighting at MSG would be amazing. It would be the first [UFC] fight at that stadium, it would historic, and I’d love to make history and maybe get gold at the same time. Chris is a great guy. I like Chris a lot. But we both want one thing – with both want to be the best and we both want the gold. What better match-up for MSG than one for the belt? East Coast/West Coast, California/New York – it’s hard to not see it as the perfect match-up.”
