Khabib Nurmagomedov Will Likely Drop UFC 187 Fight Due To Injury

Just days after the main event to UFC 187 had to be changed, a key lightweight fight might now be off the card as well, Khabib Nurmagomedov has suffered an injury that will likely take him out of his fight with Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone.

Sources close to the situation confirmed the news.

As of now the extent Nurmagomedov’s injury is unknown, but it was indicated by sources that he will likely have to drop out of the bout scheduled for May 23 in Las Vegas.

Nurmagomedov has been unable to fight since April 2014 after dealing with a knee injury that has continued to hamper him until just recently when he was able to return to training full time.

The new main event for the card will pit Anthony Johnson against Daniel Cormier to crown a new UFC light heavyweight champion after Jon Jones was stripped of the title on Tuesday.
