Benson Henderson: “I Intend To Retire In The UFC”

After a dynamic decision win over Jorge Masvidal this past Saturday in Seoul, former lightweight world champion Benson Henderson set his gloves down on the Octagon mat. The fight fufilled his UFC contract, and the symbolism was not lost on us.

Talking to reporters afterwards, Henderson said that he wasn’t trying to send a message with his gesture, but simply wanted to fully appreciate the great moment, should it end up being his last with the UFC.

During post event news conference, Benson had this to say:
“I’m not trying to send any message of any type, But if it plays out a certain way, I want to have some pretty good memories to go out on.”

He went on to say that when he does eventually retire from the art of MMA, he intends for it to be from the UFC.

“Next for me? I’m not sure, Only thing I know is I intend to retire in the UFC, from the UFC. When I retire, it will be in the UFC, I know that for sure. But I am going to test the market, yes.”
