Khabib Nurmagomedov To Have Knee Surgery, Out For 4-6 Months

Lightweight contender Khabib Nurmagomedov is now set to have surgery to repair a torn meniscus in his right knee on Friday, an operation that will likely see him out for four to six months. The news was confirmed by UFC Tonight on Thursday evening.

The undefeated Nurmagomedov has already been out of the competition for a year due to a tear in the ACL of his right leg. In his last bout, he won a decision over Rafael dos Anjos, who is the new lightweight champion after upsetting Anthony Pettis in March.

Yesterday, Nurmagomedov injured his knee during sparring in San Jose at his American Kickboxing Academy gym. Initially he was diagnosed as having a torn meniscus.

Now he is set to his the operating room once more, but he has hopes to return to action in October.Sources believe the fighter and his coaches feel that he went back to training too soon, resulting in his knee breaking down, again.
