Weidman vs. Belfort Postponed, Hendricks vs. Lawler At UFC 181

The long awaited show down between Chris Weidman and Vitor Belfort is pushed off ittle longer now after Weidman got injured in training. Belfort wrote on his Facebook page that Weidman broke his hand in training, forcing him to pull out of their Dec. 6 bout in Las Vegas.

Belfort wrote this:

“I’ve just received the news that Chris Weidman broke his hand and, for what everything points to, our fight is gonna be moved to February”

With the highly anticapted faceoff postponed the UFC has made up a brand new main event for UFC 181: Johny Hendricks will defend his welterweight title for the first time against Robbie Lawler.

UFC officials confirmed the matchup to sources on Monday, at this time there are verbal agreements in place with both fighters.

UFC 181 also will feature the lightweight title bout between Anthony Pettis and Gilbert Melendez in the co-main event.
