Vladimir Matyushenko Signs with Bellator FC, Non-Tournament Debut Bout

42 year-old UFC veteran and former IFL champion, Vladimir Matyushenko has signed a deal with the Bellator Fighting Championship just a few weeks after being released by the Las Vegas based promotion.

Bellator CEO Bjorn Rebney, speaking via TheMMAReport, said:

“(Matyushenko) is convinced at this stage of his career that he is at a place that he can really still excel and compete at a very high level.”

Since returning to the UFC, Matyushenko has won four out of seven fights, losing only to current UFC light heavyweight champion, Jon Jones, current top contender, Alexander Gustafsson, and top ten fighter, Ryan Bader. He will join the 205 pound division with Bellator alongside the likes of former Strikeforce light heavyweight champion, Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal.
