Urijah Faber Is Willing To Step Up To A Short Notice Fight Against Eddie Wineland at UFC 161

UFC bantamweight, Urijah Faber revealed today that he is willing to step in for Renan Barao against Eddie Wineland at UFC 161 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, on July 15th , saying that stepping up to the plate when he’s needed most has always been his mentality.

Faber, speaking via MMAMania.com said:

“I just found out and from what it sounds like, we’ve got the champ injured and now the interim champ is hurt. This sucks. No one has reached out to me about filling in but if the opportunity comes knocking, I’ll definitely consider it. I feel like in the rankings I’m number two, it’s kinda like waiting to see what happens. If an opportunity comes take it. That’s always been my mentality.”

Faber has picked up back-to-back wins recently inside the octagon over Ivan Menjivar and Scott Jorgensen, both via rear-naked choke. He recently expressed an interest in going head-to-head with UK veteran, Brad Pickett in the coming months.
