UFC 163: Jose Aldo vs. Anthony Pettis in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on August 3rd

Brazilian website Tatame.com has reported that featherweight champion, Jose Aldo will indeed defend his title against former lightweight contender, Anthony Pettis at UFC 163 from Rio de Janeiro’s HSBC Arena on August 3rd, 2013. The fight was first revealed by UFC President Dana White who set his sites on Texas, Chicago, Las Vegas and Rio de Janeiro for consideration to host the event.

Aldo returned from a year-long absence from the octagon to pick up a very close unanimous decision victory over former lightweight champion, Frankie Edgar at UFC 156. Prior to that he defeated Mark Hominick, Kenny Florian and Chad Mendes.

Pettis bounced back in a huge way from an octagon debut defeat to Clay Guilda last June, defeating Jeremy Stephens, Joe Lauzon, and most recently stopping Donald Cerrone in the very first round at UFC on FOX 6 in January.
