Nate Marquardt Steps Up to Face Jake Ellenberger at UFC 158 in Montreal

Former Strikeforce welterweight champion, Nate Marquardt will face Jake Ellenberger at UFC 158 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Marquardt steps in after Johny Hendricks accepted the co-main event slot against former title challenger, Carlos Condit when Rory MacDonald was forced to withdraw from the event due to a neck injury.

Marquardt hopes to rebound after losing his Strikeforce welterweight belt to Tarec Saffiedineon during the promotion’s final event, which took place last month in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Prior to that he captured the Strikeforce belt with a fourth-round KO of Tyron Woodley, who also volunteered to fight Ellenberger at UFC 158.

Ellenberger returns following a decision win over Jay Hieron at UFC on FX 5. Prior to that he seen a six-fight winning streak come to an end after Martin Kampmann knocked him out at The Ultimate Fighter 15 Finale.
