John Cholish Retires Following His UFC on FX 8 Defeat To Gleison Tibau

UFC lightweight prospect and Renzo Gracie trained, John Cholish announced his retirement from mixed martial arts this week following his UFC on FX 8 defeat at the hands of veteran, Gleison Tibau in Santa Catarina, Brazil, a decision taken before the pair even locked horns inside the octagon.

Cholish, posting prior to Saturday’s event said:

“Looking forward to my last fight today, Win, Lose, or Draw. I’ll do my best to put on a strong performance and of course be Having Fun!”

Prior to last night Cholish hadn’t fought since May 2012 when he lost to Danny Castillo via unanimous decision. The Cornell University graduate was slated to fight Yves Edwards in December but an injury forced him out of the bout. He was submitted by Tibau in the second round via guillotine choke.
