Weidman vs. Silva II & Rousey vs. Tate ll at UFC 168 On Dec. 28

UFC President Dana White has come through on his promise that new UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman and former kingpin Anderson Silva would meet again. It has now been made official.

White revealed on SportsCenter that both Weidman and Silva have agreed to meet on Dec. 28 in the headlining bout of a previously announced UFC 168 event, to take place at Las Vegas’ MGM Grand Garden Arena. The night’s main card will be the Weidman vs. Silva rematch, airs on pay-per-view. White confirmed that agreements have been set in place and signed for both fighters.

It was already announced that UFC 168 would hold Ronda Rousey head to head against Miesha Tate in the evening’s main event. However, that fight between former Strikeforce champs and opposing “The Ultimate Fighter 18” coaches will be the co-main event of what seems to be a star studded affair.

White had this to say on the freshly arranged bout:

“I don’t know if there’s any more hype ever in UFC history after a fight, Everybody has been wondering if there’s going to be a rematch. I’ve been working on it since Thursday. December 28 in Las Vegas at the MGM Grand, Anderson Silva will fight Chris Weidman, and the co-main event will be Ronda Rousey vs. Miesha Tate.”

In a brief statement on the fight Silva had this to say:
“I back, Trust me. I back.”
