T.J. Grant Injured, Benson Henderson vs. Anthony Pettis II at UFC 164

T.J. Grant has been forced out of his UFC 164 lightweight championship bout with Benson Henderson due to an undisclosed injury. Grant’s replacement will be non other than hometown favorite and the last man to defeat the UFC lightweight champ, Anthony Pettis. UFC 164 is set for August 31st, 2013 from the Bradley Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Henderson vs. Pettis will be a rematch of a 2010 WEC bout that “Showtime” won by unanimous decision to take the organization’s 155-pound title after a landing the famous “Showtime Kick” in the fifth round.

Pettis was scheduled to face featherweight champion, Jose Aldo at UFC 163, but was forced to pull out due to a knee injury and was put on the shelf for six weeks by the UFC’s official doctor. Pettis then claimed he could make a quick comeback and begun to campaign for his shot at Henderson despite Grant already being announced as the next challenger will now get his wish at UFC 164.
