Dana White: Anderson Silva Will Get Immediate Rematch If He Loses

UFC president Dana White released the news on Monday that middleweight champion Anderson Silva will be granted an immediate rematch if he loses to Chris Weidman. Weidman is set to challenge for Silva’s belt this Saturday at UFC 162.

Since he won the UFC middleweight belt in 2006 Silva hasn’t faltered as a professional fighter. Currently he is the longest reigning champion in UFC history, with a winning streak of 16 and the longest title defense streak at 10.

Dana White, UFC president, speaking to sources said this on the matter:

“I’d do the rematch the next fight, Guy hasn’t lost in the UFC ever, he’s beat everybody. He loses that fight, he’s the guy for a rematch if he wants it. He didn’t sign a 10-fight deal to not take big fights. He cares about legacy,”
