TUF 9 Winner, James Wilks Officially Retires From Mixed Martial Arts

“Ultimate Fighter” season nine welterweight winner, James Wilks is hanging his gloves once and for all following a series of injuries over the past couple of years, cutting short a promising career inside the octagon.

Wilks will finish his career with a 7-4 record, 2-2 inside the octagon with victories over DaMarques Johnson and Peter Sobotta and defeats to Matt Brown and Claude Platrick. Wilks retirement announcement comes 18 months after his most recent loss to Sobotta at UFC 120 in October 2010.

Wilks, posting via his Twitter account, said:

“A few of you have been asking when my next fight is. Unfortunately, I have had to retire due to injury. Now coaching @lightningmma.”
