Patrick Cote Wins in Brazil, Hopes to Return to UFC (Video)

Canadian middleweight Patreick (The Predator) Cote stopped Brazilian veteran Gustavo (Ximu) Machado in the first round of a Amazon Forest Combat card Saturday night. The 32-year-old middleweight from Montreal floored Machado (22-9-1) with a left and then delivered another dozen blows before referee Mario Yamasaki stepped in at two minutes 45 seconds. It was the fourth straight win for Cote (17-7) since he was released by the UFC.

Cote hopes his winning streak will earn him a return invitation from the UFC, which has Canadian shows planned this year for Calgary in July, Toronto in September and Montreal in November. Cote was cut after a decision loss to (Filthy) Tom Lawlor at UFC 121 in a fight that saw him outwrestled. It was his third straight loss in the UFC.
