Matt Wiman Out, John Alessio vs. Mark Bocek at UFC 145 in Atlanta, Georgia

Matt Wiman has blew out his knee in training and will be unable to compete against Mark Bocek at UFC 145 at the Philips Arena in Atlanta, Georgia on April 21st. Bocek tweeted the news that Wiman suffered a knee injury and now after almost six years John Alessio will return to the octagon to replace the injured Wiman.

Alessio will look for his first UFC win in his fourth stint with the promotion. Over the years, he lost to Pat Miletich, Diego Sanchez and Thiago Alves. Recently, he has racked up ten victories in his last eleven fights. His sole loss came to Siyar Bahadurzada, who later signed with the UFC. Alessio’s most recent wins have come over the likes of Luigi Fioravanti, War Machine and Ryan Healy.

Bocek outpointed Nik Lentz in his most recent bout. He has racked up six wins in the octagon, but has lost to some of the top competition like UFC lightweight champ, Ben Henderson, Jim Miller and ex-champ, Frankie Edgar.
