Hector Lombard Wants Munoz Next, Dana White Says No; Major Middleweight Plans To Be Revealed This Saturday Night

Former Bellator middleweight champion, Hector Lombard has already called upon his next opponent just days before his UFC 149 bout with Tim Boetsch in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. It didn’t take long for UFC President, Dana White to rule out the possibility of seeing Lombard take on Mark Munoz, as well as giving fans some insight on major plans yet to be announced following this weekends event.

Lombard, speaking via MMAJunkie, said:

“Saturday, I’m focused on this fight. And after that, I’m going to call Mark Munoz out. I’m focused on the fight, but I’m going to call out Mark Munoz after. That’s my goal. I’m going to make a statement no matter what. But after that, I’m going to beat up Mark Munoz. He’s been talking a lot of trash about me. I’m one of those fighters that I don’t like to talk about any fighter. I’m focused on myself. When I see people that do the wrong things, I have to do something about it. I don’t want to talk about it. I don’t want to talk about him. I just want to fight him. I want to fight him bad.”

White, speaking during today’s press conference in Calgary, said:

“He must not have Fuel TV, because Munoz just lost the other night. If he wins on Saturday, I mean, I don’t think he’ll be fighting Mark Munoz, he’ll be fighting one of the guys at the top of that division, not that Munoz isn’t, but Munoz has a loss right now.”

As for the 185 pound division, Dana said:

“Oh, we’ve got plans. That’s all I’ve been talking about for four days. I’ve been on the phone with me and [UFC matchmaker Joe Silva] putting together some really good fights. As long as everybody stays healthy… And you know how normally after a fight on Saturday, you guys are like, ‘Who’s he gonna fight next?’ and I’m like, ‘I have no idea.’ I’ll have answers for you on Saturday. So we’ll see who wins and I’ll have a lot of answers for the 85 pound division.”

“I’m excited, man. The 85 pound division has never been more exciting. There’s a ton of great guys now, a ton of great fights to make and it’s gonna be fun. This next six-seven months, it’s gonna be a really fun time for the 85 pound division. I’m pumped. I’ll have answers for you on Saturday.”
