Eddie Alvarez vs. Patricky “Pitbull” Freire in Windsor, Ontario, Canada on Oct. 12th

Bellator CEO, Bjorn Rebney has announced that former lightweight champion, Eddie Alvarez will return for his last fight on his current contract with the promotion on October 12th in Windsor, Ontario, Canada when he takes on the explosive, Patricky ‘Pitbull’ Freire. Rebney posted the news via his Twitter account. There is a huge possibility that Alvarez could sign with the UFC after the fight.

Alvarez lost his Bellator title in a Fight of the Year candidate back in 2011 to Michael Chandler, dropping a submission. He rebounded with a first round TKO win over the last man to hold the DREAM lightweight title, Shinya Aoki in April.

Freire is known for his ultra-aggressive striking style but the Brazilian hasn’t fared too well of late, going 1-2 in his last three fights. He was last seen at Bellator 62 losing to Lloyd Woodard via second round submission.
