Dana White: “Three strikes and you’re gone.” UFC Cuts Anthony Johnson

Dana White has confirmed that the UFC has let go former welterweight turned middleweigt, Anthony “Rumble” Johnson just hours after his loss to Vitor Belfort at UFC 142 last night in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, something that has more to do with him missing weight on more than one occasion than the result of the fight.

Dana White, speaking on FUEL TV, said:

“We are probably going to cut Anthony Johnson.”

Johnson would go on to comment on his loss, giving all the respect to Belfort:

“No excuses, Vitor was just a better fighter. I’m not here to make excuses, a fight is a fight. If you’re going to win, you’re going to win, if you’re going to lose, you’re going to lose and he was just more prepared than I was. I want a rematch. But there’s so many great guys at 185, I would just like to keep fighting here. I don’t care who it is, I just want to fight.”

Dana then spoke to MMAJunkie, confirming the news of the cut:

“Three strikes and you’re gone.”
