Anthony “Rumble” Johnson 204.2lbs., Vitor Belfort to Weigh Around 205 Pounds

Anthony “Rumble” Johnson took to the scales today and came in at 204.2 pounds ahead of his co-main event fight with Vitor Belfort tonight at UFC 142 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Mike Dolce, the nutritionist of UFC middleweight contender Vitor Belfort, has revealed the Brazilian will come in around 205 pounds for tonight’s bout.

Johnson came in eleven pounds over the 185 pound limit last night, weighing in at 197 pounds. Belfort insisted that he weigh no more than 205 pounds by 2:00pm today. He has been fined 20% of his purse which goes to “The Phenom”.

It has since been revealed that doctors ordered Johnson to take fluids just a few hours before the weigh-in. He reportedly weighed as low as 187.5 pounds prior to the doctor getting involved. Despite the facts UFC President, Dana White has labelled “Rumble” unprofessional and revealed he faces the sack win, lose or draw.

Dolce, speaking via MMAFighting, said:

“He may get up to 208 with a full belly but we’ll pull back his food a bit as he gets closer to competition time. [He’ll] probably be 204 tonight. We wanted the fight regardless.”

“Every fighter is ‘ill’ on weigh-in day. He (Johnson) was bouncing around giving high-five’s in the pre-weigh-in line-up, laughing and looking fine. Missing weight is an issue of a weak mind, not body. I have seen thousands of cuts. If an athlete misses it is because he did not prepare properly or he breaks mentally.”

“Belfort had the advantage the day the fight was signed. Johnson endured no more trauma than Vitor did. Or, any other MMA athlete. I don’t care what the stories say, all these guys suffer exactly the same and endure the same pain. Either you are prepared or you aren’t. Vitor is prepared.”
