Timothy Bradley Wins Shocking, Controversial Split Over Manny Pacquiao

In the main event of the Pacquiao vs. Bradley HBO pay-per-view (PPV) that took place last night, Saturday, June 9th, 2012 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, pound-for-pound great Manny Pacquiao returned to the ring to put his WBO welterweight championship on the line against undefeated banger Timothy Bradley.

Manny Pacquiao seemed to dominate the fight against Timothy Bradley from the opening round. While there were a few (3-4) rounds that seemed like the could be scored for Bradley, it seemed impossible by the time the final bell had sounded that Tim had done nearly enough to take a decision, but that’s exactly what happened.

Pacquiao’s key punch the entire fight was the hard straight left hand and his powerful blows were certainly more telling than Bradley’s much lighter shots. Beyond the quality and power of the shots landed, Pacquiao dominated in terms of actual punches landed and accuracy.

While Bradley was more than willing to exchange and get into ill-advised firefights, the fight appeared to clearly not be going his way.

As soon as the Pacquiao vs. Bradley results were announced, a state of shock set in with the audience at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada, as well as with fans watching across the globe. A Split Decision verdict was awarded to Timothy Bradley, with the scorecards reading 115-113 in his favor twice, against 115-113 for Manny Pacquiao from the third judge.

“I did my best,” he said. “I guess my best wasn’t good enough.” Pacquiao (54-4-3, 38 knockouts) said he was shocked to hear the decision, and agreed to a rematch being scheduled for November.

“I thought I won the fight,” said Bradley, who is 29-0 with 11 knockouts. “I didn’t think he was as good as everyone says. I didn’t feel his power.”

Dana White didn’t hide his blame that went straight for the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC):

“Nevada state athletic commission at its finest!!! Youve for to be fucking kidding me!! that is disgusting Nevada state athletic commission!! Worst athletic commission in the country!!!!!!!!!!!!”
