Jose Aldo Injured, Urijah Faber vs. Renan Barao Named New UFC 149 Main Event

UFC featherweight champion, Jose Aldo has become the latest fighter injured, forcing him out of UFC 149. The interim bantamweight title bout between Urijah Faber and Renan Barao, originally set for UFC 148 in Las Vegas, has been bumped to UFC 149 in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The UFC announced the switch and it is unclear whether Aldo’s opponent, Erik Koch will remain a part of the card or will wait for the Brazilian’s return.

Faber is coming off an impressive second round submission win over former WEC champion, Brian Bowles, bouncing back from the close decision loss to Cruz last summer.

Barao defeated Brad Pickett via submission before out pointing Scott Jorgensen in his last fight. He was due to face Ivan Menjivar at UFC 148 but will now be bumped to the co-main event of the evening. The Brazilian’s original opponent, Ivan Menjivar, will now fight Mike Easton.
