Nick Diaz’s Injunction Request Denied, NSAC Set Date for Hearing on May 21st

Former UFC welterweight number one contender, Nick Diaz was denied an injunction by the Nevada State Athletic Commission today by a Nevada district court but it did in turn result in the commission setting a date for the fighters hearing which will hopefully put this behing the Stockton native once and for all. The NSAC now will hear Diaz’s case during a May 21st hearing in Las Vegas.

Diaz’s manager, Cesar Gracie, speaking via MMAJunkie, said:

“That’s pretty much what we wanted in the first place, so in a way, it’s a win. The injunction would have been great. However, I think with the NSAC giving him a hearing, which before they were refusing to allow, it worked out. It made the NSAC give Nick a hearing.”

Judge Rob Bare ruled that while the Nevada State Athletic Commission technically violated state statutes by not conducting the hearing within 45 days of Diaz’s initial suspension, the fighter needs to appear before the commission before a judge intervenes.
