UFC 132: BJ Penn vs. Jon Fitch II and Evan Dunham vs. George Sotiropoulos

A welterweight rematch between former 155 pound champion, BJ Penn and top 170 pound contender, Jon Fitch and a lightweight tussle between top prospect, Evan Dunham and Australian submission wizard, George Sotiropoulos have been officially announced for UFC 132 in Las Vegas, Nevada on July 2nd, 2011.

UFC President, Dana White confirming Penn vs. Ftich II via UFC.com, said:

“Both fighters look to keep it out of the hands of the judges this time.”

The first bout had ended in confusion, with many fans and fighters feeling Penn had done enough to walk away with tnhe victory before the judges announced a draw, a result that shocked the talented Hawaiian. Prior to the fight Penn got back to his winning ways, after losing back to back fights to Frankie Edgar, losing his title in the process, when he knocked out long-time rival, Matt Hughes in just 21 seconds. Fitch continued his decision wins in 2010 with grinding victories over Ben Saunders and Thiago Alves.

Dunham is looking to get back to winning ways after picking up back-to-back losses inside the octagon. First the controversial decision loss to former champion Sean Sherk, before he made the mistake of attempting to trade punches with the hard hitting, Melvin GUillard. Sotiropoulos was on the verge of a title shot prior to his most recent trip to his homeland, down under, where German kickboxer, Dennis Siver stuffed all of his takedown attempts and out pointed the Aussie to earn a unanimous decision win.
