Todd Duffe vs. Nick Gaston at DREAM 17: Japan GP Final in Tokyo, Japan

Former UFC fighter, Todd Duffee will meet undefeated, Nick Gaston in a heavyweight cbout at DREAM 17 at the Ariake Coliseum in Tokyo, Japan on July 16th, 2011. The news was revealed by the promotion earlier today, also adding a third-place playoff in their bantamweight grand-prix involving Kenji Osawa and Keisuke Fujiwara.

Duffee was released from the UFC on September 7th, 2010, for having an attitude problem and it seemed he didn’t want to be in the UFC, he didn’t like being in the UFC. After his release Duffee attempted to pick up the pieces and move on with his MMA career by scheduling to compete in the Titan Fighting Championships at the beginning of 2011. Instead, a major break occurred for Duffee when DREAM was unable to secure an opponent for MMA superstar Alistair Overeem in DREAM’s first heavy weight title bout at FEG’s prominent annual New Year’s Eve event, Dynamite!!. Duffee seized the opportunity less than two weeks before the event, he was officially named to take on Alistair Overeem, losing by way of knockout at 19 seconds of the first round.

Gaston aka “Afrozilla” will fight for the first time outside of the King of the Cage banner where he’s undefeated at 5-0 with wins over Josh Watson and Darrill Schoonover, aka “Titties”.
