Tiequan Zhang becomes first Chinese UFC fighter after signing multi-fight deal

Former WEC lightweight star, Tiequan Zhang will become the first and only Chinese UFC fighter after the “Mongolian Wolf” was handed a new multi-fight deal by the Las Vegas based promotion over the past couple of weeks.

The news was confimred through a source close to the situation with the China Top Team fighter likely to fight in the first quarter of 2011.

Zhang made a successful WEC debut late last year, defeating Pablo Garza via submission in the very first round. A few weeks later returning only to lose to Danny Downes via unanimous decision at WEC 53.
