Tatsuya Kawajiri Drops to Featherweight to Face Joachim Hansen at DREAM 17

Former DREAM and Strikeforce lightweight title contender, Tatsuya Kawajiri will be dropping down to the featherweight division to take on former 155 pound champion, Joachim Hansen at DREAM 17 in Saitama, Japan on September 24th, 2011. DREAM officials announced the news earlier today meaning both men have likely signed official bout agreements. The two men have squared off before with Kawajiri coming away with a disqualification win after catching an inadvertent kick in the groin.

Kawajiri has failed to capture gold in his career, going down at the hands of Shinya Aoki in DREAM and Gilbert Melendez in Strikeforce. He was last seen in action just last month where he defeated UFC veteran, Drew Fickett.

Hansen has seemingly put his career back on track in the featherweight division after an up and down time at 155 pounds. He has put together an impressive three fight winning streak which includes a split decision win over Mitsuhiro Ishida just last May.
