Shinya Aoki turns down Shane Nelson to face Rich Clementi at DREAM 17

Here we go again… Shinya Aoki has withdrawn from his scheduled bout agaisnt Shane Nelson at “DREAM 17: Fight For Japan” on the May 29th event. However, late Tuesday evening Aoki had opted to face Rich Clementi, who is coming off of a loss instead.

No reason was given as to why Aoki decided to face Clementi off a loss in the place of Nelson who is coming off a win. But Shane Nelson has been guaranteed a slot on DREAM 18’s card set for July 16th for compensation.

Clementi has gone 2-3 in his last five outings including an upset submission loss to Aaron Derrow early on this year and a controversial unanimous decision defeat against Reza Madadi at Superior Challenge 7 in April. Aoki will look to help fans forget about his disgraceful brutal knock out loss to Yuichiro Nagashima at Dynamite!! 2010. He has since competed but in the Strikeforce cage not the DREAM ring, defeating Lyle Beerbohm via first round rear-naked choke earlier this month.
