Scott Coker: Remaining quarterfinal bouts and return of Gilbert Melendez on April 9th, Japanese venue possible

Strikeforce CEO, Scott Coker has today confirmed that not only will you see the second set of quarterfinal bouts for the heavyweight world grand prix, involving Alistair Overeem vs. Fabricio Werdum, and Josh Barnett vs. Brett Rogers, but also the return of Strikeforce lightweight champion, Gilbert Melendez.

The news was confirmed earlier today that the promotion could very well be heading to “The Land of the Rising Sun” for this one, with even more speculation that Japanese star, Tatsuya Kawajiri could face Melendez.

It is currently unclear whether the promotion will attempt to fly solo on this event or join forces once again with DREAM, drafting some local talent, ultimatly helping to sell the event in the Far East on a bigger level.
