Mixed Martial Arts Gets Denied Legalisation In The New York State Again

Another year long fight to have the sport of mixed martial arts sanctioned in the state of New York failed once again today after it failed to clear the final hurdle in front of the relevant committee.

After clearing the New York State Senate, the assembly’s Tourism, Parks, Arts and Sports Development Committee and the assembly’s Codes Committee, the bill stalled in the assembly’s Ways and Means Committee for the third straight year.

This has become the last holy grail for those at the UFC after finally legalising the sport in Toronto, Canada earlier this year and putting on its first 55,000 stadium event. Many of the promotions fighters have joined UFC President, Dana White and CEO, Lorenzo Fertitta in lobbying hard for the bill to be past.
