Mike Swick vs. Jungle Fight WW Champ, Erick Silva at UFC 134 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

UFC veteran Mike Swick will make his return to the octagon when he faces promotional newcomer and Jungle Fight welterweight champion, Erick Silva at UFC 134 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on August 27th, 2011.

Swick has lost two fights in a row, the first to Dan Hardy at UFC 105 last November before coming up short against Paulo Thiago four months later. The veteran has also had problems with his health in that time, contracting severe spastic esophagus which severely restricted his diet. He was expected to return to action against David Mitchell on January 22nd at UFC Fight Night 23. However, Mitchell was forced out of the fight with a back injury and Swick felt as if his stomach condition was not completely healed, so the bout was scrapped from the card altogether.

Silva comes from Vila Velha, Brazil and is an X-Gym training partner for the likes of UFC middleweight champion, Anderson Silva, former Strikeforce light heavyweight champion, Rafael Feijao Cavalcante and Strikeforce middleweight champion Jacare Souza. He also trains with Team Nogueira and Pro Fight. A professional MMA competitor since 2005, Silva has spent the majority of his career in Brazil, mostly notably for Jungle Fight where he is the reigning (and inaugural) Welterweight champion. He is undefeated in the past five years, with a record of eleven wins and only one loss.
