Mauricio “Shogun” Rua to Welcome Back Dan Henderson at UFC 139 on Nov. 19th

Some huge news has come to light today after it was revealed that current Strikeforce light heavyweight champion, Dan Henderson and former UFC light heavyweight champion, Mauricio “Shogun” Rua have verbally agreed to meet at UFC 139 expected to take place at the HP Pavilion in San Jose, California on November 19th, 2011. The bout will likely be the new main event for the card that saw its prior main event between heavyweight champion, Cain Velasquez and number one contender, Junior dos Santos get moved to the main event of the UFC on Fox fight card on November 12th, 2011.

Henderson’s return will see his third run in the UFC after recently competing for Strikeforce, where he won the organization’s light heavyweight title back in March. The 41 year old Henderson remains a competitor in both the middleweight and light heavyweight divisions, and will look to take that relavance over to the UFC ranks.

Rua is coming off a win over Forrest Griffin in a rematch at UFC 134, where he knocked out the TUF season 1 winner in the very first round. Despite winning the light heavyweight title in May of 2010, Rua has seen mixed results during his time in the UFC holding a record of 4-3, defeating the likes of Hall of Famer, Mark Coleman, former UFC light heavyweight champions, Chuck Liddell and Lyoto Machida, and most recently the rematch with another former light heavyweight champion, Forrest Griffin.
