Josh Thomson vs. Maximo Blanco For September 10th Strikeforce Event

Former Strikeforce lightweight champion, Josh Thomson will be the first to fighter to face recently signed Japanese import, Maximo Blanco set to go down at a yet to be announced Strikeforce event on September 10th, 2011. The bout agreements have been issued, signed and the fight could be announced any day now.

Thomson will return to the Strikeforce cage after a long layoff due to injury and will also look to get back to his winning ways following an unsuccessful trip to Japan when he lost to Tatsuya Kawajiri on the DREAM New Year’s Eve Dynamite!! show.

The former lightweight King Of Pancrase, Blanco will enter the Strikeforce cage with an 8-2-1 professional record. He hasn’t been seen in action since last December’s Sengoku: Soul of Fight event in Japan where he picked up a unanimous decision win over South Korea’s Won Sik Park.
