Jose Aldo vs. Chad Mendes at UFC 142 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on January 14th

UFC featherweight champion, Jose Aldo will put his title on the line against powerhouse wrestler, Chad Mendes when the promotion returns to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on January 14th for UFC 142. UFC President, Dana White confirmed the news via FOX Sports earlier today.

Aldo recently defeated former two-time lightweight title contender, Kenny Florian in Houston, Texas. His other win since crossing over from the WEC came over Mark Hominick at UFC 129 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

A win over Rani Yahya propelled Mendes back into title contention and he’ll likely meet Jose Aldo early next year. With a wrestling background many believe he could be the next champion at 145 pounds.
