Jon “Bones” Jones: “I’ll be fighting Quinton “Rampage” Jackson next.”

UFC light heavyweight champion, Jon Jones has confirmed that his first title defence will indeed come against former light heavyweight champion, Quinton “Rampage” Jackson but due to contract negotiations cannot reveal when and where the fight will take place.

Jones, speaking via MMAJunkie.com, said:

“I’ll be fighting Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson next. I’m not allowed to discuss the date because I didn’t sign a contract, but yeah, it will be very soon.”

Jones became the youngest ever champion in UFC history when he defeated Mauricio “Shogun” Rua just last month. The win came at the expense of his former friend, Evans, and the pair have ensued in a bitter war of words which also involved trainer Greg Jackson.

Jackson has finally found his route back to the title, which has been delayed due to injuries and movie roles but has most recently together a two-fight winning streak against Lyoto Machida and Matt Hamill to secure his shot.
