Frankie Edgar vs. Benson Henderson at UFC 144 in Saitama, Japan on Feb. 25th

UFC lightweight champion, Frankie Edgar will put his title on the line against the new current number one contender and former WEC lightweight champion, Benson Henderson when the promotion heads over seas to Saitama, Japan for UFC 144 on February 25th, 2012.

Henderson, speaking at the UFC on FOX post-fight press conference, said:

“I think the match-up is great against Frankie. I think I can dictate where the fight takes place. That’s obviously a huge benefit to any fight, if you can dictate where it goes, whether it stays standing or whether it goes to the ground.”

“I’m excited. I’ve got a date with Frankie. Him and I are going to go have fun in Japan. I’m very excited for that. I just know I need to find whatever it is to have a better performance in Japan.”

Edgar put behind him back-to-back rematches with first BJ Penn and then Gray Maynard by emerging with an impressive 3-0-1 record. He was last in action at UFC 136 in October, stopping Maynard via fourth round TKO. Since joining the UFC roster, Henderson has defeated Canadian submission artist Mark Bocek, powerhouse wrestler Jim Miller and now the most energetic man in maybe all of the sport, Clay Guida.
