Fedor Emelianenko Becomes Latest Fighter Officially Axed by Strikeforce

Formerly ranked number one fighter on the planet, Fedor Emelianenko has been cut from the Strikeforce roster after losing three in a row, effectively bringing to an end his career as a top-rated mixed martial artist.

Dana White, speaking during the UFC 133 pre-fight press conference, said:

“He’s being cut, yeah. Why? Do you think we should keep him? You guys thought he was the pound-for-pound best in the world, but I thought he was overrated for years.”

Representatives from M-1 Global were quick to point out that Fedor’s contract is with Showtime and not Strikeforce and that the Russian might find a home for himself as part of the promotions fighting roster as they look to hold a further four events in the U.S. over the next year.
