DW Jumped the Gun, Lyoto Machida vs. Phil Davis NOT Happening Dec. 10th

UFC President, Dana White has admitted that he jumped the gun yesterday when it came to light that former light heavyweight champion, Lyoto Machida would take on top 205 pound prospect, Phil Davis at UFC 140 in Toronto, Ontario, Cananda on December 10th, 2011.

Dana, posting via his Twitter account, said:

“I jumped the gun on Machida vs Davis. Just found out Davis is still recovering from knee surgery. Sorry about that!”

Machida is coming off a spectacular flying front-kick knockout of Hall of Famer, Randy Couture, the last time the promotion visited the province. Prior to that he lost back-to-back difficult defeats to former light heavyweight champs, Mauricio “Shogun” Rua and Quinton “Rampage” Jackson. Davis was scheduled to face now number one contender, Rashad Evans at UFC 133 earlier this month but was forced to withdraw due to injury. He was last seen is last defeating former PRIDE veteran, Antonio Rogerio Nogueira via unanimous decision at UFC Fight Night 24.
