Chael Sonnen Denied Licence, Effectively Retired From Sport of Mixed Martial Arts

UFC middleweight title contender, Chael Sonnen revealed today that the Las Vegas based promotion have lined him and Michael Bisping up to be a coach on the next season of “The Ultimate Fighter” if he could obtain a licence in both the states of California and Nevada. Sonnen revealed the news while at the hearing in California earlier this afternoon.

Sonnen then found out the hard way that once you burn your bridges there’s no going back, after the California State Athletic Commission decided against reissuing his licence to compete in the octagon. The commissions panel voted 4-1 in favour of upholding his indefinite suspension and according to testimony past along to the commission by Sonnen’s attorney by UFC President, Dana White it means his mixed martial arts career is now effectively over.

Sonnen was last seen in action at UFC 117 in August last year when he was defeated by current middleweight champion, Anderson Silva. Following the fight he tested positive for a banned testostroe substance, something he later claimed he needed for medical reasons and that he’d already informed Nevada State Athletic Commission’s Executive Director, Keith Kizer, which later turned out to be a lie.
