BAMMA announces UK television deal, begins with live TV broadcast of Daley vs. Shirai

British MMA promotion BAMMA has announced a new television broadcast deal which will see its 2010 events available in approximately three million British homes on entertainment channel Syfy via digital cable, IPTV, satellite television and Top Up TV.

BAMMA has five events taking place at arenas across the UK this year and the live broadcasts will commence with the February 26th event which takes place in Manchester. That event will be headlined by Paul ‘Semtex’ Daley and DEEP welterweight champion Yuya Shirai. The card also features Ricco Rodriguez against TUF 10 alumn, James McSweeney. Bamma 5 will air live on SyFy at 9PM on Saturday 26th February.

“2011 is a very exciting year for MMA in the UK and a great time to be a fan of the world’s fastest growing sport. Our deal with Syfy will not only allow us to present all five events completely live, but it will also deliver the sport to a whole new breed of MMA fans,” said BAMMA spokesman Liam Fisher. “Our ongoing commitment to growing this fantastic sport has just increased massively with the aid of Syfy and it feels great to part of such a partnership.”
