Amanda Nunes Forced Out Julie Kedzie Bout On June 18th Due To Injury

Amanda Nunes will not face Julie Kedzie in their upcoming women’s 135 pound bout this month at Strikeforce: Overeem vs. Werdum in Dallas, Texas after Nunes picked up an injury this past week in training, reportedly a broken foot.

Kedzie reported the news via her Twitter account earlier today. It is unclear whether the promotion will be able to find a replacement in the two and a half weeks remaining before the event.

The bout would have been Nunes’ second in Strikeforce, after successfully making her organizational debut in January with a 14 second knockout of Muay Thai striker Julia Budd. The 23-year-old has won six straight fights since losing her MMA debut, and all six of her wins have come by TKO or knockout. Kedzie has won four straight fights since 2009, leading to this entrance into Strikeforce.
