Scott Coker: Marloes Coenen vs. Meisha Tate has to happen but not until late summer

Strikeforce CEO, Scott Coker revealed that the women’s 135 pound title fight between champion, Marloes Coenen and challenger, Miesha Tate will indeed go down later this year but not until late summer.

Coker, speaking via MMAWeekly.com, Coker said:

“That’s a fight we tried to put together a couple of months ago at the Columbus, Ohio, card in March, so we’re going to try to put that together sometime late summer. Put that fight back on the books because that fight just needs to happen.”

Coenen was last seen in action in March card on the Strikeforce: Columbus card, defeating late replacement Liz Carmouche in the fourth round after being out-wrestled throughout the entire fight. Tate won the one-night, four-woman tournament at Strikeforce Challengers 10 to be named the number one contender at 135 pounds. She is currently on a five-fight winning streak.
