Former UFC LW Dan Lauzon stabbed Thursday morning in Bridgewater, Mass

Former UFC lightweight Dan Lauzon was stabbed early Thursday morning following an altercation outside of a nightclub in Bridgewater, Mass., according to a report from the Enterprise News.

Lauzon, 22, reportedly received a non-life threatening stab to his shoulder and was hospitalized. His older brother and current UFC lightweight, Joe Lauzon, confirmed much of the report on his personal blog.

Under an entry titled “Days Have Started Much Better,” Joe wrote he had been scheduled to fly to Iraq Thursday for a goodwill military tour but cancelled when he received a call at 2 a.m. ET informing him of his brother’s condition.

“A little after 2am, I get a call saying my brother was on his way to the emergency room,” Lauzon wrote. “I rushed out the door and ended up rolling my ankle on the walkway … I got to the hospital and gimp walked my way into the ER and found Dan in one of the rooms.

“Luckily everything was okay and it wasn’t a big deal as was originally thought.”

According to the report, the Bridgewater Police Department is still investigating the altercation. At the time it was posted, the other men involved had not been identified.

Lauzon (14-4) made his UFC debut at the age of 18. He’s fought three times within the promotion, losing each time. He most recent professional fight was Dec. 12, where he scored a first-round win over Damien Trites in Rhode Island.

Efforts by ESPN.com to reach Dan Lauzon went unanswered. Joe Lauzon refused to comment.
