Fedor Emelianenko suspended indefinitely by the NJAC following beat down by Silva

Formerly ranked number one fighter on the planet, Fedor Emelianenko has picked up an indefinite medical suspension from the New Jersey Athletic Control Board following last night’s shock defeat at the hands of Antonio “Big Foot” Silva in the quarter-finals of the promotions heavyweight grand prix.

Fedor, who is contemplating retirement following the defeat, will need to have a CT scan for possible facial fractures and will be unable to take any blows to the head for at least the next 90 days. Other main card suspensions went to Chad Griggs and Gian Villante who will be out for 30 days as a precaution.

Fedor Emelianenko: suspended indefinitely pending CT scan of head and facial bones. Also suspended 90 days for head strikes
Andrei Arlovski: suspended 30 days for knockout
Chad Griggs: suspended 30 days for hematoma on ear
Gian Villante: suspended 30 days for precautionary reasons
Don Carlo-Clauss: suspended 30 days for laceration healing
Anthony Leone: suspended indefinitely pending clearance by ear, nose and throat doctor for damage to nose; also suspended 90 days for healing.
