Facebook.com likely to become the regular home for UFC preliminary fights

After experimenting last month at the UFC Fight Night 23 event in Fort Hood, Texas and noe booking another fight on the same platform for this coming weekends UFC 126 card in Las Vegas, Nevada, the UFC have revealed that preliminary card fights on Facebook will become a regular thing.

UFC President, Dana White, speaking at the UFC 126 pre-fight press conference, said:

“I’ve always been waiting for the day, and I’ve been saying this for 10 years, that eventually television is all going to the Internet. You’re going to be watching everything on the Internet. The world is getting smaller and smaller, and everybody is going to be plugged in.”

“Like this ‘Kid’ Yamamoto fight. It’s not just people in the U.S. People everywhere have been asking for it. As we have these television deals, people in the U.K. and Australia and all these other countries, they get those other fights, and they wanted this fight, too. Everybody can watch it.”

“It’s still kind of a work in progress, but we love the concept. It’s what we’ve been talking about for 10 years. This is what I’ve been talking about where the whole world can watch at the same time. We’re getting there. That’s my goal. People are so rabid and want to see every fight. Why would I not want to show them every fight?”
