WEC 48: Cub Swanson vs. ‘Korean Zombie’ on April 24

Fast-rising South-Korean featherweight prospect Chan Sung Jung (10-1) recently signed a six fight deal with World Extreme Cagefighting. The promotion has since secured an opponent in Cub Swanson (14-3), the bout will take place at the upcoming WEC 48: Aldo vs. Faber pay-per-view from the Arco Arena in Sacramento, California on April 24th, 2010.

Since Swanson’s very aburpt loss to current featherweight champion Jose Also via TKO (Flying Knee and Punches), has rebounded nicely with a submission win (rear naked choke) over John Franchi at the WEC 44: “Brown vs. Aldo” event back in November, winning Fight of the Night honors.

Jung Chan Sung made his professional debut in June 2007 and in December the same year he won a lightweight tournament arranged by Pancrase Korea.

In 2008 he won both his fights for Japanese promotion Deep. He then entered the 2009 Sengoku Featherweight Grand-Prix where he won his first-round fight but ended up getting eliminated from the tournament by the eventual winner Masanori Kanehara.

His latest fight was a reserve-bout for the tournament at Sengoku 9 were he faced American Matt Jaggers, with the winner stepping in as a replacement should some of the remaining fighters be unable to continue. Jung ended up winning the fight by triangle choke submission at 1:25 of the second round, but was not required to step in as a replacement.
