Wanderlei Silva visits former Chute Boxe team-mates in Brazil

Wanderlei Silva recently took a vacation back home to Brazil, where he visited with former Chute Boxe teammates and brothers Mauricio “Shogun” Rua and Murilo “Ninja” Rua.

In case you are new to the sport or don’t really know about The Chute Boxe Academy, here’s a little history…

The Chute Boxe Academy
Founded by: Rudimar Fedrigo
Primary trainers: Rudimar Fedrigo, Mestre Zito, Gerson Schilipacke

1978 – The Chute Boxe Academy opened as a Muay Thai academy in Curitiba, Brazil.

1991 – Head trainer Rudimar Fedrigo later expanded the program to include Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and other aspects of modern mixed martial arts.

1995 – The Chute Boxe team was considered a prime training ground for Vale Tudo fighters.

2004 – An American branch, Chute Boxe USA, was established in Los Angeles, California.

Chute Boxe fighters were characterized by being extremely aggressive and physical, as well as well-rounded fighters, able to use submissions, punches, kicks, and various grappling styles as needed.

The following fighters have trained at The Chute Boxe Academy:
Anderson Silva, Gabriel Gonzaga, Assuerio Silva, Nino “Elvis” Schembri, Anthony Johnson,
Jose “Pele” Landi-Jons, Wanderlei Silva, Mauricio Rua, Murilo Rua, Andre Amade,
Evan Tanner, Thiago Silva, & Kazushi Sakuraba.
