UFC won’t counter-event Strikeforce: Nashville, counter-program more likely

MMA Fighting is reporting that the UFC will not hold an expected April 17 event to counter the Strikeforce: “Nashville” CBS fight card.

You have to think with five events under Zuffa through April 24th, that the promotion could not assemble a “worthy” fight card in time to counter Strikeforce in Nashville.

Instead, the UFC will likely air a recent PPV or a sequence of main event fights for free on Spike TV.

Well we all know it won’t be the first of last time The UFC counters Strikeforce:

– November 7th, 2010 – UFC “Main Events” vs. Strikeforce: Fedor vs. Rogers
– August 15th, 2009 – UFC 100 vs. Strikefoce: Carano vs. Cyborg
– April 11th, 2009 – UFC 94: St. Pierre vs. Penn 2 vs. Strikeforce: Shamrock vs. Diaz
